frequent questions

Why should I choose to work with you?

You probably found this website by googling, and you may be overwhelmed with your options. If you choose Shot From the Heart Photography, you are working with a licensed and insured photographer. This is vital when choosing someone to work with your family, especially if you have a newborn. Angela is also a firefighter and paramedic with 18 years experience. She has been certified as both a CPST (car seat tech) and CPR instructor, and is highly trained in newborn care and handling. Many parents refer to her as the "baby whisperer" once their session begins.

What products do you offer?

Shot From the Heart Photography only offers the very best. From handmade, leather bound photo albums, to mounted and matted folio boxes, handmade canvas gallery wraps, vibrant metal prints, gift prints, desktop displays, birth and graduation announcements, and more are all available to you. For custom framed artwork, we work exclusively with a company who uses authentic reclaimed barn wood and makes frames by hand. The only limit is your imagination.

How many images will I get?

We don't limit your final gallery to any specific number, however you are trusting us to select the best images of those captured during your session. Depending on the session, your gallery typically includes around 20-30 images. Professional headshot sessions are an exception to this- they are shorter in duration and include 8-10 images.

Where does my session take place? Can you come to my home?

All posed newborn sessions take place in our studio located in Canton GA. We utilize professional studio lighting, We have large backdrop stands, and a prop collection too vast to be mobile. It's just not feasible for us to make house calls for posed newborn sessions. Lifestyle sessions can take place in your home. Milestone sessions and family sessions can take place in the studio or at a location of your choosing. (We are happy to suggest several locations to suit your needs).

I don't know when baby will be born. When and how do I book you?

Booking early is highly recommended. Because babies come when they want, we do ask to be notified as soon as possible when you are in labor. This allows us to offer you the best possible scheduling options for your newborn session. Newborns are usually photographed between 4-14 days of age.

How long do sessions last? How many outfit changes can I have?

Newborn sessions are usually around 3 hours. Maternity, infant, child, and family sessions are usually around 45 minutes to an hour. We do not limit your session, but do respect that nobody wants to take all day so we strive to work efficiently. Newborn clothing sold in stores usually doesn't fit brand new babies very well, and  babies are usually photographed in only a diaper or a wrap for the majority of the session, but and you are also welcome to use any items from my selection of handmade and custom newborn outfits. For maternity, infant, child, and family sessions we do not limit your options, and find that most clients are happy with 2-3 outfits.

Do you have props and outfits?

YES. we have a tremendous selection of props, accessories, backdrops, headbands, wraps, and fabrics. We also offer a large variety of high-end, custom newborn outfits, as well as designer maternity dresses/gowns. I have a limited selection of 6 and 12 month outfits, as well boutique gowns for girls in sizes 3-12. Feel free to schedule a tour in order to view the items available and try on gowns/dresses.

Do you do events? Parties? Weddings?

At this time we do not offer event photography, nor do we shoot weddings. Please seek an experienced photographer specifically trained for your event.
